Hello friends! I know it has been pretty quiet over here on my little slice of the internet lately but that is changing pretty soon! I will be catching up on nearly 9 months worth of blogs! HOLY COW right??
It’s been a while since I have gotten to find the time to blog my sessions. Between picking up a job in webdesign and attempting to maintain my crazy crew here— I just haven’t had the time or energy to get to sit down and share my wonderful experiences I have had lately & I hate that so I am coming back stronger than ever!
I couldn’t think of a better session to jump back into blogging with than the Storm Family’s fall mini-session! We faced many rain checks to get to this beautiful fall day but I couldn’t have asked for anything to have been better.
Daniella & Michael | Engagement | Lower Peach Tree, Alabama
March 17th, 2018
Daniella and Michael chose to have their engagement shoot on Michael's family property in Lower Peach Tree, Alabama. Perhaps you have heard of the King-Criswell Plantation house in Uriah, Alabama? Well, Michael is a direct descendant of the King lineage. When we arrived at the property, Daniella began sharing with me a lot of the history that went into the land. It was a working plantation at one point in time, and held it's own community on the property, equipped with a post office & corner store which are still standing today.
Brittany & Trey decided to get married at the beautiful & historic Bragg-Mitchell Mansion in Mobile, Alabama. The Greek Revival home is donned with white washed wood, large windows with natural light pouring in, huge old oaks surrounding the property, and a gorgeous driveway lined with azaleas, roses, and crepe myrtles.
Brittany and her bridesmaids arrived the afternoon of the 23rd of February and began putting the final touches of their hair and make up in place and helped Brittany prepare for her first look with her soon-to-be husband, Trey.
Brittany's mother and sister, Jessica, helped Brittany step into her gown. Brittany, in her gown standing in the beautiful white light pouring into the upper room at the Bragg, was nothing short of radiant.
I feel like this post should begin with a drum-roll, so, just do me a favor and do a little drum-roll on your keyboard before you keep reading... (*insert wink emoji here)
I have already shared a little bit about my heart and planning experience regarding this workshop but now it's time to actually dig deep into the day itself. It's also a chance for me to brag shamelessly on my incredible attendees and vendors who were absolutely amazing.
"The reason they believe that they can find someone cheaper is BECAUSE THEY CAN. Clients CAN find someone at a lesser cost because this is a saturated industry filled with people trying to operate a business with little to no business education what-so-ever. They have no idea that by devaluing themselves and their time, they are also devaluing the entire industry and causing a loss of income for most photographers across the board.
It was then that I remembered that I too started off this way. Inexperienced and uneducated on all things business, pricing for profitability, as well as lacking the technical skill to charge an amount that I would need to survive off of. " ... read more
I am not sure if words can describe the love and excitement I have for this precious family. I have not had the pleasure of knowing them for a long time, but the short time I have has been a blessing. They are the type of people that make you feel like you have been best friends for life and you can't help but want to spend more time with them... (read more)
Bailey & her mom, Cynthia, contacted me a few months ago looking for a photographer for her December wedding. We decided to meet for coffee and talk through details and get to know one another and there was that instant "click". Bailey and I joke that we are essentially the same person... (although her make up skill are WAY better than mine!) We connected over the mutual experience of being a "Preacher's Kid" (PK) and our love for 90's alt. music and Michael Buble. More importantly though, we discussed the wedding and her relationship with Nick. ...
It's almost been two years to the date since I first met Carlen & Andrew. I happened to meet someone from 5 Rivers today and it made me think back to this incredible engagement session on the Delta River. I met up with Carlen and Andrew early in the morning, we loaded up in two canoes, and we paddled out to these gorgeous fields of Lotus flowers. Carlen had just lost her father and the Lotus flowers became a symbol of hope- as they are one of the only species of flowers to be able to grow in the muck.
It's been quite a long time since I had the pleasure of documenting milestones like a couple's first pregnancy. I was definitely a bit rusty at some things but had so much fun stepping out of my comfort zone again! Jennifer is a fellow photographer (Jennifer Schiller Photography) and has been in the Mobile area for a few years now. In fact, I think we both moved here around the same time! She and her husband, Ben, are the cutest and were so kind to let me hang out with them for an afternoon.
This was going to be a post about my new office. A post with pretty photos documenting this new fun area I get to have all to myself. This space I have dreamt of for seemingly a lifetime.
Oh, don't worry- there will still be all the pretty photos of some of my new space. Duh. BUT- That is not shaping up to be the actual story within this post.
Instead, I am going to highlight that little quote in my photo up there ^...
Guys, it's here! I can't believe it! I am so excited to officially announce the inaugural #AWPWORKSHOP!
There is this whole page on my website dedicated to explaining what the workshop is, who it is for, when and where it's happening... all that jazz. However, I wanted to share a little personal backstory on how I even got to this point in business because trust me, it's been a long time coming!...read more
Joyful laughs, close friends and family, details colored in soft blues, pinks, and creams... that is what filled the First Baptist Church of Jackson, Alabama on the third of June. I love when brides have attention for detail and when your family gets to be a part of making those details pop it becomes all the more special.
I had the pleasure of meeting Hannah a little over a year ago when she was a bridesmaid in a wedding I was shooting. She reached out to me a few months later and we began planning for her very own wedding! Some things that really stood out to me about Hannah and Josh's wedding day was that first and foremost- their friends are family. I work a lot of weddings and see a lot of 'friends' standing beside the bride and groom but often times they don't seem to be a close, tight knit group. That is the exact opposite of this crew! In fact, many of these folks were also bridesmaids in groomsmen in the wedding that I met Hannah at! They have all grown up together, gone off to college together, and are now getting married - together....
I have had the pleasure of attending CityHope since late 2013- back when it was Bay Community and we met in a small room that is now used for KidCity. (Who's with me!?) When I first moved to Spanish Fort I was pretty much alone, had just found out that we were expecting Chloe and I was desperate for community. I was desperate for friends, for women to invest in my life, for Jesus, for a miracle... desperate....
I love weddings, I hope to do them for a long, long time. But the one thing I love to shoot the most (other than weddings) are Seniors. I love getting to know them and see their personalities and sweet spirits come alive in my camera. It's almost like I get to go back in time for just a little while and relive those days myself when life was carefree and fun and my only responsibilities were making sure I showed up to the football game on time. These moments seem to last forever when you're in them and then the next thing you know you're planning the trip to go to your high-school reunion.
Kayla and Dent met me in Downtown Fairhope on Sunday afternoon and while we were walking to our first shoot location I asked them if they would share their story with me. It's so important to me that I invest in getting to know my clients on a personal level and what better way to start that process than by hearing their very own love story?!
