As I sit on my floor entertaining my daughter while trying to write this post, I am reliving this beautiful day that I married this man. It has only been a few weeks since we said "I do" but we have already been forced back into every day lives. Work, Chloe, the tasks of getting my name changed and all the "joys" of becoming a married woman can be overwhelming. The stresses of everyday life are no joke, folks.
Still, looking through these images serves as a great reminder that although every day may not be quite as bright as the day we married, they are all a beautiful addition to the stories we will create together for the rest of our lives.
I recently purchased some note cards that express "Celebrate the little things" because to me, the small moments are the ones I always remember. I may not remember a grand event 10 years from now but I will always remember the fact that the first song Kyle and I danced to was "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone" which was a song he picked out and wouldn't tell me for weeks. I literally went into our wedding reception having no clue what song we would be dancing to.
I will remember that our cake almost fell over when we cut it and that Kyle didn't wait to be fed his piece or even to give me mine. He went right ahead and popped it in his mouth. It was hilarious and sweet.
I will remember that my friends who are family to me were there beside me on my wedding day. That though we have all faced strife and difficult times in our relationships, ultimately our love for one another was stronger than any drama we could face.
I will remember that it took three different dresses being purchased before all three bridesmaids had the same dresses.
I will remember that Chloe, who is ALWAYS happy in public, refused to cooperate and would have nothing to do with family photos after the wedding.
I will remember that instead of the big send off I had planned, I ended up in the pool in shorts and a tank top with my husband and sister in law. And I loved it.
All of the reminders are things I cherish and hold on to, especially in the stressful and difficult moments that life and marriage bring.
I can only say "Thank You" to everyone who participated in every detail of our wedding. It was such a beautiful day and I will always and forever be indebted to the family and friends who went out of their way to help make it perfect.
