When Devon proposed to Haley, they had already been dating for quite a few years and knew that they wanted to do something different from the norm. They decided to book a cruise with some of their closest family and friends and say “I Do” while touring the Caribbean! Because of this, they were limited on their options for photography and decided that they would find a gorgeous venue back home, book a special day to dress back up in their wedding attire, and have their wedding portraits taken separately from their Cruise Wedding...(read more)
I have had the pleasure of photographing this family ever since I was even just slightly interested in photography. They have had to stand in front of my lens out of obligation many times before, though they will tell you they wanted to, they weren't forced to. (It's totally because they were forced to!) You see, Aaron is ... (read more)
I am not sure if words can describe the love and excitement I have for this precious family. I have not had the pleasure of knowing them for a long time, but the short time I have has been a blessing. They are the type of people that make you feel like you have been best friends for life and you can't help but want to spend more time with them... (read more)
Faith Without Works Is Dead
"14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
Bailey & her mom, Cynthia, contacted me a few months ago looking for a photographer for her December wedding. We decided to meet for coffee and talk through details and get to know one another and there was that instant "click". Bailey and I joke that we are essentially the same person... (although her make up skill are WAY better than mine!) We connected over the mutual experience of being a "Preacher's Kid" (PK) and our love for 90's alt. music and Michael Buble. More importantly though, we discussed the wedding and her relationship with Nick. ...
It's almost been two years to the date since I first met Carlen & Andrew. I happened to meet someone from 5 Rivers today and it made me think back to this incredible engagement session on the Delta River. I met up with Carlen and Andrew early in the morning, we loaded up in two canoes, and we paddled out to these gorgeous fields of Lotus flowers. Carlen had just lost her father and the Lotus flowers became a symbol of hope- as they are one of the only species of flowers to be able to grow in the muck.
I was recently talking with a potential client about her wedding vendors and I said something to her that I think a lot of brides can benefit from. We were discussing "How To Find The PERFECT Vendors For You" and so I am going to share with you all some of my advice on this topic.
First, in order to find the BEST vendors FOR YOU, you have to know what you want from them. Because my specialty is in Photography, I will use 'looking for a photographer' as my example- but know that this applies to most wedding vendors across the board.
It's hard to believe that it has been a week since I was running through the sand playing with this precious family. I met Stephenie and Will a few years back when visiting a friend in Panama City. At the time, they only had Brooklyn and she was about the same age Walker was here. She and I spent a few days playing on the beach and I snapped a few photos of her one evening and ever since then, Stephenie and I have always talked about doing an actual family session.
"For FOURTY YEARS these two have been a team of encouragers and a beacon of hope, love, and most importantly, Christ to all who meet them. They take on the challenge of leading hundreds of college students, teaching them, loving them, and protecting them (Mrs. Sandra is packing- y'all) and all along they find ways to only grow closer together. I need to start this by telling you how excited I am to finally being able to catch up with work and share this blog. I absolutely adore these photos and this couple and I know that you all will too!
A while back, in April to be exact, I had the insane pleasure of putting together a styled bridal shoot and a re-envisioned wedding shoot with some good friends, family, and a team of phenomenal vendors at one of my favorite venues to date- The Lange Farms. Those shoots were both picked up for publications by some of the best publishers in our local area (in fact- the wedding couple's images still haven't been blogged here because they are currently being prepared for publication by Gulf Coast Bride and Southern Bride!) and because of those publications, Samantha saw my work and fell in love with it.... It's been quite a long time since I had the pleasure of documenting milestones like a couple's first pregnancy. I was definitely a bit rusty at some things but had so much fun stepping out of my comfort zone again! Jennifer is a fellow photographer (Jennifer Schiller Photography) and has been in the Mobile area for a few years now. In fact, I think we both moved here around the same time! She and her husband, Ben, are the cutest and were so kind to let me hang out with them for an afternoon.
This was going to be a post about my new office. A post with pretty photos documenting this new fun area I get to have all to myself. This space I have dreamt of for seemingly a lifetime.
Oh, don't worry- there will still be all the pretty photos of some of my new space. Duh. BUT- That is not shaping up to be the actual story within this post.
Instead, I am going to highlight that little quote in my photo up there ^...
Guys, it's here! I can't believe it! I am so excited to officially announce the inaugural #AWPWORKSHOP!
There is this whole page on my website dedicated to explaining what the workshop is, who it is for, when and where it's happening... all that jazz. However, I wanted to share a little personal backstory on how I even got to this point in business because trust me, it's been a long time coming!...read more
Joyful laughs, close friends and family, details colored in soft blues, pinks, and creams... that is what filled the First Baptist Church of Jackson, Alabama on the third of June. I love when brides have attention for detail and when your family gets to be a part of making those details pop it becomes all the more special.
You guys- I am going to go full-blown white girl on you. I seriously CAN'T EVEN with these! I am so thankful for clients who are willing to talk to me about the things that are important to them and allow me to take those visions and bring them to life.
Brittany told me right off the bat that she knew that she wanted a garden scene for her engagement photos with her soon-to-be hubby, Trey. The only problem was, we have limited locations that offer that kind of backdrop locally and she really wanted something different. So- I suggested that we try venturing out and exploring a new place and she was on board!
I had the pleasure of meeting Hannah a little over a year ago when she was a bridesmaid in a wedding I was shooting. She reached out to me a few months later and we began planning for her very own wedding! Some things that really stood out to me about Hannah and Josh's wedding day was that first and foremost- their friends are family. I work a lot of weddings and see a lot of 'friends' standing beside the bride and groom but often times they don't seem to be a close, tight knit group. That is the exact opposite of this crew! In fact, many of these folks were also bridesmaids in groomsmen in the wedding that I met Hannah at! They have all grown up together, gone off to college together, and are now getting married - together....
It's Mothers Day and this year I wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary. I called my dad a few days ago and asked him to send me a few photos of my mom and our family over the years. Of course, I have plenty of other photos of her from my adult life, but it was important to me that I use the ones from growing up. The ones dad picked out. The ones that show how life was through someone else's eyes. Of course I threw some of their favorites of me in there too... *wink wink*.
I have had the pleasure of attending CityHope since late 2013- back when it was Bay Community and we met in a small room that is now used for KidCity. (Who's with me!?) When I first moved to Spanish Fort I was pretty much alone, had just found out that we were expecting Chloe and I was desperate for community. I was desperate for friends, for women to invest in my life, for Jesus, for a miracle... desperate....
